Murder Burger Or Bust
Tourist day number one

Monday afternoon Bryan and I went to Darling Harbour to see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. I posted some of those pictures already. Scott stayed back at the hotel to work, and although I admired his discipline, I couldn’t help but think it was a shame to miss out on a beautiful day in Sydney.

I went back to the Darling Harbour to take night time photos of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Those are also in a previous post, so scroll down to check them out if you have not done so already. The extended exposure looks really neat.

After the harbour, I went back to The Excelsior Hotel because there was a singer/songwriter open mic happening. I got there kind of late, so I only saw four people perform, but they were all really good. Very technical guitar players in Sydney. The host of the night was an American guy who now lives in Sydney. I decided to talk with him after the open mic finished, and I found out he was from San Diego, has been living in Australia for about two years, and the most interesting thing, that he works for the Apple store in Chadstone. I mentioned to him that my friend from Chicago was one of the people Apple sent to Sydney to help open the first store. Yep, you guessed it. Turns out my new friend, Isaac, knows my old friend, Danielle. That just might be the smallest “small world” story I’ve had.

Isaac gave me a whole list of things out check out while in Sydney. He told me how to get to Bondi Beach if I wanted to see the Sun rise. He told me which train to take to Cronulla if I wanted to see Whitley the next night, but best of all, he told me about three places in The Rocks neighborhood, out by the Harbour Bridge, that were definitely worth checking out.
