Blackhole 212 - Singapore
The ten minute walk from our hotel to a dark, smelly alley in some now-forgotten-named neighborhood of Singapore was in no way a clue to the night that lie ahead of us. Under the impression from the beginning that the club was a squat, it was anyone’s guess what we would soon be walking into.
Well, as it turns out, the Blackhole 212 was actually a community center, and the worst thing about the two-year old venue is that in 60 days it will be no more. Due to the rent and overall cost of keeping the doors open, and the slowly fading DIY scene in Singapore, they have little choice but to close up shop.
The first picture here is of the “hang out” room. A place to chill and drink beers for some, but a refuge for others.
All of the bands that played were really great. The youthful pop-punk/melodic hardcore of Norphrunt and Kate of Kale reminded me of my first band, and the straight up hardcore of TSA made us sweat having to follow them. All in all, the show was awesome. We made some friends, drank some beers, and played an great show. Thank you all. Good luck with whatever comes next. Hope to see you again.

All the photos were taken by Ojie (a.k.a. the smiling buddha) from TSA.
